Wow, I’m up to publishing article #3 on LinkedIn this month, I feel like a rockstar! –
Mobile Wallets are NOT Mobile Payments
While mobile wallets and mobile payments are in the same family, they are not the same animal.
I was flipping through my “read later” section of my inbox earlier and I noticed a couple of G Alerts about an article that seems to confuse these two things. Then I looked at the rest of the Alert, and sure enough, there was another article that made the same mistake.
Let’s be clear – you can have a mobile wallet that doesn’t do payments, and you can pay for things via your phone without a mobile wallet.
I get a little frustrated when I see the references get all mixed up… you can have one without the other and anyone telling you different is just plain wrong.
Mobile wallets do SOOOO much more than just facilitate payments – they can store loyalty, gift cards, or membership data. That’s a no brainer.
They can be used to communicate and engage with customers and prospects in REAL TIME about REAL THINGS. That’s the REAL KEY here!
